The AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-100mm f/3.5-5.6G lens includes a selection of Nikon technology features, including Super Integrated Coating (S-IC), Distance Technology, and G-Type design (aperture control exclusively from camera body). Super Integrated Coating, a form of multiple layer coating, is a Nikon technology that has evolved through years of development. With Super-IC, color performance is enhanced within the System and each lens' flare characteristics are minimized. The result is pictures of excellent clarity. The G-type design is primarily designed for the newest Nikon SLR models, including both 35mm and digital, all of which include a Sub-Command Dial, from which aperture control is possible. This design facilitates lens handling, and helps photographers keep a more positive grip on the camera as they use their right index finger to adjust aperture. This firmer grip and excellent balance will help photographers get sharper images, even as they adjust exposure and quickly shoot their pictures. Distance Technology (included in D-type and G-type Nikkor) provides precision distance information from the lens. This information is incorporated into exposure calculations for both ambient light, flash illumination, and combinations of both, as in fill-flash photography.
